Horse Betting Explained
Check WagerWeb and find the best betting site!!!!
Betting on horse racing isn’t a complicated procedure. Most often, you place your bet, take your ticket, and tear it up when your bet doesn’t pay off.
The following list spells out the betting procedure step by step:
State the name of the racetrack.
State what number race you’re betting.
State the dollar unit of your bet.
State the type of wager.
State the number of the horse or horses you’re using.
Check your ticket before you leave the window.
The main object of betting on horses is to beat the ‘Oddsmakers‘ or the ‘Odds Compilers’ and win some money. Additionally, placing a bet on your favorite event makes the race exciting and more enjoyable.
Betting is done through Sports books or Sportsbooks (US) and Bookmakers (UK) entities that accept bets. You can bet on the outcome of horse races and several sporting events.

If you have studied the racing form and looked at the horse, it is time to place a bet. Unlike other forms of gambling, you are not playing against the house when you bet on the horse races. Horse betting is actually a competition with the people around you.
Playing against the other horse betting gamblers as with horse racing is referred to as pari-mutuel wagering. The money that is wagered is pooled, with a separate pool being kept for each type of wager. If you win your bet you get part of the pool. How much depends on how many other people win with you.
There is a basic protocol to follow when you go to the betting window to place a bet. Here is what to say at the betting window:
Track: Tell the clerk what track you are betting on. “Hollywood Park, race 3.”
Amount: Tell the clerk the amount that you are betting. “Five dollars.”
Type: Tell the clerk the type of bet you are making. “Win.”
Number: Tell the clerk the number(s) of the horse you are betting. “Number 5.”
Now put it all together. “Hollywood Park, race 3, five dollars to win on number 5.” That’s all there is to it!
You can bet on any race being run at the track at any time before it is run. Tracks also simulcast races from other tracks. That is why it is important to specify the track where you wish to place your bet. Below is a list of the more common types of bets used in horse racing and sport events.
Straight bet or Single or Win bet. This is the simplest and most common bet. You bet on a winner at given odds. You collect only if your chosen horse is the first across the finish line.
Place. A wager for place means you collect if your selected horse finishes either first or second.
Show. The third horse across the finish line. A wager to show means you collect if your selected horse finishes either first, second or third.
Combination Bet. Combinations cover from two to four horses to win in chosen order.
Pick 3. This wager requires the player to pick the winners of three consecutive races. Some race tracks have a rolling pick 3 which is when the player must pick three races in a row and it continues for the next three races.
Pick 6. This wager requires the player to select the winner of six consecutive races prior to the first race of the pick six. Some tracks place the pick six as the first six races, the middle six races, or the last six races. Many tracks have carry over pools for the pick six that can grow to as high as a million dollars.
Quiniela or Reverse Forecast (UK). A bet placed on two horses to finish first and second in either order.
Perfecta or Exacta or Straight Forecast (UK). A bet placed on two horses but they must cross the finish line in exact chosen order.
Trifecta or Tricast or Treble Forecast (UK). A bet placed on three horses to cross the finish line in exact chosen order.
Superfecta. A bet placed on four horses to cross the finish line in exact chosen order.
Daily Double. Similar to an accumulator you select the winners of the first and second races on that day. You must place your bet before the start of the first race.
Jackpot. Pick six winners in six races to share in a Jackpot prize. The rules and prizes will vary from race track to race track.
Parlay or Accumulator. A multiple bet. A kind of ‘let-it-ride’ bet. Making simultaneous selections on two or more races with the intent of pressing the winnings of the first win on the bet of the following race selected, and so on.
Future. A bet on a future event.
Exotic Bets. Betting on unusual events. Some sports books post odds and take bets on a wide variety of other sports related events and activities. A few others will take bets on just about anything you can think of.
Proposition Bet or Prop Bet. An offer of bets at odds and conditions chosen by the sportsbook, usually on ‘Exotic’ bets.

Online Gambling – Choosing an Online Poker Moniker
If you’ve ever played poker online, you’ve probably noticed some great names around the virtual table. You’ve also probably noticed some really lame ones. Choosing a good moniker can help you to last longer at the table and even make new friends, while a bad one can make you a target in more ways than one. It’s best to put a little thought into your online poker name before you join the table.
From Sportsbook, Casino Betting, Racebook Gambling, WagerWeb offers you the best online gambling options, check it now!
Too Much Information
One common mistake people make with online poker names is giving too much information. For instance, “BobSMithSS#111-11-1111” is probably not a very good choice. Steer clear from anything that includes personal information, including your real name. You don’t want to take someone’s chips only to find out that they’ve taken your identity.
Wimpy Nicknames
Let’s face it, poker is a war. A name like “Cuddlebear32” or “Bunnies&Kittens4ever” will probably not strike fear in the heart of your opponents, at least not until you’ve proven yourself. If your reputation as such a great and ruthless player is such that your moniker of “Fuzzyloveywumpykins” causes people to cash in their chips and find another table, then I salute you. Otherwise, you should probably find a tougher name.
Names That Invite Challenge
You can go too far in choosing a tough nickname, too. When you go with a name like “Yourchipswillbemine78” or “Yourwifefeltgreatlastnight69,” there are probably going to be a few people looking to bust you out early just so they can laugh about it, or just because seeing your name on their screen irritates them. Names with profanity or implied profanity also seem to get attacked early.
Good Names
So, what’s left? Funny names are good, names like “Theguyonyourright101” or “Doeslowcardwin16” might get a chuckle or two and probably won’t incite too many to poker violence. Names from movies are okay, too, and could start a nice side conversation. Sometimes an in joke can be good, too, or a long-forgotten childhood nickname. Poker names are always nice, although it gets a little tiresome to see a “Takemetotheriver” or “Acehigh” at every table. Above all else, make sure to pick a name that you will be comfortable seeing every time you log on.

Blackjack Betting Strategy
Check WagerWeb and find the best betting site!!!!
A strategy is a course of action you decide on in advance. If Blackjack is your game of choice when playing at an online casino, you need to be aware there is one major difference in the playing structure of the many different Blackjack variants you can play online as opposed to playing them in person, at a land based casino.
Blackjack is perhaps the most popular casino game of all. It’s enjoyed by players all over the world, and you’ll struggle to find many casinos that don’t have multiple blackjack tables on the gaming floor. It’s available at every online casino we’ve ever played at too.
From Sportsbook, Casino Betting, Racebook Gambling, WagerWeb offers you the best online gambling options, check it now!
Blackjack is also one of the easier games to learn the basics for, and even learning some very sound strategy isn’t overly complicated. With a little time and knowledge of the game, there’s really no reason why you wouldn’t be able to start playing this game with efficiency.
Basic Strategy
One of the most appealing aspects of blackjack is that there’s some element of skill involved.
Basic strategy is the optimal way to play blackjack. The aim of basic strategy is obviously to win as often as possible but also to maximise your winnings, to reduce the chances of busting, and also in some circumstances, to minimise your expected losses.
Blackjack strategy is about using probabilities to determine how any action you take will affect your chances of winning a hand. This is done by comparing the probabilities of all the possible combinations of cards that could be dealt, and determining how these combinations would impact the final outcome of the hand.
Once you know how the different actions you can take will affect your chances of winning, you can then choose the optimal one. There’s always a correct mathematical decision to make, and taking it enables you to keep the house edge to the absolute minimum. That is essentially the whole point of blackjack strategy.
Blackjack strategy has effectively been solved, and turned into a defined set of rules. These rules tell you exactly what action you should take in any given situation, based on the cards in your hand and the exposed dealer card. By following them, you can apply basic blackjack strategy without using any math at all.
If you want to apply basic blackjack strategy perfectly, then you need to know what to do in every possible situation. This is where the use of strategy charts comes in handy.

Sports Betting Explained
Check WagerWeb and find the best betting site!!!!
Sports betting can be a fun and profitable venture. You should be able to enjoy many positive experiences as long as you bet in moderation and under control.
Knowing how sports betting works starts with understanding the fact that sports betting is illegal in most of the United States. In fact, it is only really legal in Nevada, although a lot of people bet online as this is still a gray area when it comes to the law.
You should check your state or provincial laws first before deciding how and if you get involved. Some states prohibit it, others are actively trying to regulate it

Once you decide that this is for you, you need to identify the type of player you will be. There are four categories.
Professional. It is a fulltime job, requiring tons of research, tons of reading, tons of discipline.
Sports Investor. Applies the same discipline and mathematical study as a stock broker would in managing his portfolio. Done properly and astutely and usually with advice of the #1 type of bettor above, you can make it happen.
Recreational Bettor. You are watching the game on TV, having a few bucks on one side or the other keeps things interesting and actually heightens your enjoyment. This is fun money, your recreational spending money.
The different betting systems can vary and sports books have their own language. If you want to learn how sports betting works, you need to learn who sets the line, how often you need to win to break even, and how the odds are determined.
The sportsbook is the place that takes the bets. It is also referred to simply as the “book.” a person who takes a bet is either a “bookmaker” or a “bookie.”
The “handle” is the amount of money that is wagered on the bets.
The “handicap” is also something that you will be hearing a lot of. When it comes to betting on sports, the handicap is points given to a team in order to level the playing field.
The “juice” is the money that the bookmaker takes in as a profit.
The “money line” is used in sports that do not ordinarily have high scores, like baseball or soccer.
In a “parlay”, a bettor makes a combination bet. Rather than making 5 different bets on 5 games, the bettor will simply make a single parlay bet.
The “spread” is used in sports where you can expect high scores, such as basketball and football. The point spread gives a team a few points’ advantage.

Online Casinos- Blackjack History
History for card games can be a little confusing. We often have a hard time deciding on where the card games originated from, but we do have some general ideas. It is hard to trace the origins of any game because history didn’t necessarily think it was important enough to record.
Blackjack is one of the popular casino games under the category of card games. The Blackjack game is also known as ‘twenty-one, ‘Vingt-en-un and Pontoon in different parts of the world. Blackjack is popular among the casino players due to the opportunity to win the game by utilizing gambling skills and the card counting prospects.
The first time that the game of “twenty-one” was referenced in literature was in the early 1600s in a book written by Miguel de Cervantes, author of Don Quixote, called Ronconete y Cortadillo, about gambling cheaters in Seville. The book mentions a game called “Veintiuna”, which is Spanish for twenty-one. The game, according to Cervantes, is played without tens like present-day Spanish 21, and Aces are worth either 1 point or 11 points.

Many believe that blackjack started in the 17th century. The game is also said to have started in France. The original name was Vingt et Un meaning 21.There are other games with similar names and rules, so we believe that blackjack is a root of Vingt et Un, though Vingt et Un can be from some other origin.
There are differences between Blackjack and Vingt et Un. The dealer is allowed to double and you bet after each round in Vingt et Un, which is not like the American version of Blackjack. Blackjack got its name from having the black of spades for the ace and the jack. The goal is the same in any of the versions of Blackjack that you can find in today’s world. You need to have a total of 21 to win. You get a better payout if you get the natural blackjack.
During the 17th century there was a game in Italy referred to as Seven and a half. This game was played with face cards, the 7, 8, and 9 cards as well. You were to make a hand of seven and a half points. The 7, 8, and 9 were valued at one, which the face cards were a half a point. In Seven and a Half the King, with diamonds, was a wild card. The players who went over 7 and 1/2 were considered busted and lost the round.
It was about a hundred years later (in the early 1800’s) that the game of 21 made its way to America. This game immediately became popular, especially amongst gamblers. It was here that the name “Blackjack” was developed. The original version of the game incorporated an aspect where if your first two cards dealt to you were the Jack of spades and the Ace of spades you would be paid out at 10 to 1. So everyone was hoping to be dealt that black Jack. This is no longer practiced in today’s blackjack games.
In the US there were no laws against gambling, and unfortunately France had quite a few laws at the time. This made it easier for those who loved to play to get on a ship and gamble. Gamblers were starting to develop tips on how to play and win. In the 19th century things changed in the US. The games, such as blackjack and other gambling games were outlawed. They felt it brought on more crime.
During this period Blackjack was played without knowledge by secret clubs. They had to meet in secret, avoid the police, and make sure that those playing were invited and trustworthy. The restrictions in the 1920’s grew more and more pronounced, but in 1931 Las Vegas opened as a legal means to gamble. Some see this as a way to make it more interesting, because you can’t just play it anywhere like you can play it in a casino.
It was in the 1950’s when Roger Baldwin published a paper called “The Optimum Strategy of Blackjack”. This was the very first attempt to use mathematics to form a basic strategy which would reduce the houses edge and give players a better chance at winning. Although Baldwin’s efforts are recognizable, he didn’t have the proper technologies to take his theory to the next step.
Edward Thorp was the next person to try and dispel the fallacies regarding the game and come up with the strategy in statistics that would work out better. In 1962 he finally published his findings with the card counting theory.
These books, especially the 1962 book, was on the list for New York Times best sellers. In history this is perhaps the most defining moment for blackjack as many wanted to learn how to successfully play the game. The casinos were not exactly happy with the published material, which meant they had to change a few ways of doing things such as shuffling the cards a little early. After the 1962 book ‘Beat the Dealer’ was released, this caused more casino worry and the eventual changes
Over the next few years the casinos found that they needed to change something, they were definitely not making any and in some cases losing a lot of money because of the new ways to beat the dealer at blackjack. Since blackjack was so popular they couldn’t get rid of the game altogether, they would go out of business. So to regain their house advantage, the casinos had to change the rules. However the players didn’t respond well and many stopped coming to casinos and protested against the changes. So the casinos were defeated again and had to bring back the original rules.
Over the years however, the casinos managed to find ways around card counting practices and maintain the original structure of the game. These practices are still used today and come in the form of using multiple decks and frequent shuffling practices. The player could now use their basic strategy to increase their odds but the house now regained control of their odds.
Today the casinos around the world are very fair and carry out strict laws against cheating and card counting practices.
